What Does a Musical Legacy Sound Like?

West Indian Revelation is a rotating ensemble of passionate musicians, with central members including Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuels, Andrani Samuels, and Kennedy Thompson. The group is known for its eclectic style, which fuses elements of Folk, Reggae, Calypso, Afro, Rock, and RNB. 

West Indian Revelation gets its name from the Taj Mahal song of the same title. Its members are of Trinidadian, Jamaican, and Antiguan backgrounds and their music is an expression of the Caribbean culture and heritage.

Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuels

Born on the island of Antigua, Calvin “Fuzzy” Samuel is a self-taught musician., whose C.V. includes performing with, being a member of, and serving as a session musician for groups such as Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Manassas, America, Eddy Grant and the Equals, The Sundae Times, Taj Mahal, and Rita Coolidge. Fuzzy's solo projects include "Love Don’t Taste Like Chicken," "Organic Blues," and "Island Breeze." He is currently working on a documentary featuring the Windrush story. He is also collaborating with long time friend Junior Marvin of the Wailers on an EP set to be released in the summer of 2022.

Andrani Samuels

Andrani Samuel is a newcomer to the music scene, making her live performance debut with West Indian Revelation. Born in Brooklyn, NY to a Trinidadian mother and Nicaraguan/Jamaican father, she was heavily exposed to Caribbean and Latin American music and culture. In February 2021, Andrani released her debut single, "Cherish," which made the topped Spotify's Reggae Summer Beach playlist. Later that year, Andrani released "Reparation," an Eddy Grant cover, which again topped the list. Andrani's debut solo album is set to be released in the summer of 2022.

Kennedy Thompson

Kennedy Thompson has a  B.A from the D'Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst College. An established figure in the Northwestern Pennsylvania music scene, he founded the award winning group One World Tribe, with the vision of bringing together various music styles. Thompson has also performed as a member of the Erie Philharmonic.

Mike Chin

Mike Chin hails from Montego Bay, Jamaica. He bears a deep understanding of many Caribbean music styles. Chin is a founding member of One World Tribe, providing the group's heart-beat pulse with his bass guitar. He is also a member of Chaka, a roots reggae group.

Brad Amidon

Bradley Amidon is a founding member of One World Tribe and Afrobeat
Orchestra. He currently performs with the Erie
Philharmonic and the Misery Bay Big Band, and has performed with Gunther Schuller, Arturo Sandoval, Steve Allen,
Dudley Moore, and Paul Winter, among others. He is the instructor of percussion at
Mercyhurst University and teaches private lessons. His teachers
have included Jan Williams, Lynn Harbold, Cosmo A. Barbaro, Alan Zimmerman, M’Baye
Rama Diagne, and Robert “Bunny” Falkewitz.
